Ryan’s career began in 2013 when Interior Design Hall of Fame member, Rob Kleinschmidt, recognized Ryan’s outstanding talent, beautiful portfolio, noting that studied at both IIT and Bauhaus. Joining Rob’s practice, Ry`an brought an architectural eye and his experience was a second education in art, architecture, and interior design. In addition to the award winning work Ryan was completing with RDK Design, his eyes were opened during trips to New York, Palm Springs and Los Angeles focused on learning what was going on in the art and architecture world. Five years were spent working, learning, and broadening his experience before Ryan joined the Perkins&Will Chicago studio in 2018 out of desire to get closer to his original architectural roots. At Perkins&Will, Ryan immediately dove into projects in a variety of scales and disciplines, from high-rise projects in Cairo, to corporate headquarters in Beirut, to global single and multi-level office projects. Clear from the beginning the rigor and talent he possesses, he elevated the design quality of everything he touched in a rare and exciting way. Ryan continues to be highly focused, and while he is always ready to take the baton and run with it, he is a great collaborator and coach. Recognizing everyone has specialized skills in certain areas that bring unique value to our work. Not even halfway through his career, Ryan is a rare talent that leads by example, with a beautiful approach to interior architecture. His use of scale, balance, alignment, and elegant materials have led to some of Perkins&Will’s best portfolio work. Ryan brings patience and generosity to his teammates to bring everyone along, enjoy the challenge, and celebrate the beautiful work as a team. As he continues to hit his stride, the sky is the limit to what he can accomplish.
